Detects: Recent exposure to HIV-1, past exposure to HIV-1 & 2.
By performing a screen for the HIV p24 antigen the 4th generation HIV test can detect acute infection (first 2-6 weeks) of HIV-1, and the antibody test can detect HIV-1 and HIV-2 after seroconversion has taken place. This test is ideal for individuals wanting a check-up, people who have had a recent exposure, and athletes needing a pre-fight MMA testing panel. It’s a great option all-around, but if you’ve had a very recent or high-risk exposure to the virus you might consider the HIV DNA PCR screening.
