REQUIREMENTS
Test arrangements and appointments: No appointment needed; orders for 15-panel hair collections may require special test arrangements; same-day collections may be possible, but we may have to mail out lab orders, and we therefore strongly suggest calling customer service at (866) 357-1296 and giving advance notice as soon as possible.
15 Panel Hair Follicle Drug Test Result Turnaround Time
Results can usually take anywhere between one to ten business days but usually average five to seven business days, sometimes taking one or two extra business days.
Specimen
A specimen requires 90 to 120 strands of head hair that is 1 ½ inches to 2 inches in length. Body hair drug testing options include underarm hair, chest hair, leg hair, facial hair, forearm hair, back hair, and sometimes pubic hair and will likely require us to mail out lab orders.
Detection Time
A standard 15-panel drug test has a detection time of an estimated 90 days from potential usage. The 15-panel is not available with extended detection beyond the estimated 90 days. For extended detection times, you might consider a different hair panel such as a 13-panel hair test or 17-panel hair test. You could also consider a nail drug test or choose a body hair collection. Please call customer service for more details.
15 Panel Hair Follicle Drug Test Price
The price for the 15-panel drug test can vary, depending on which drug test locations are available in your area. You must call customer service for a price quote; however, our test prices are normally better or the best price in the area. (Please note: All prices include any necessary confirmation testing and a medical review of any possible prescriptions.)
Methodology
EIA (homogenous) or Elisa (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) (heterogeneous) screening technology; GCMS (Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry) confirmation technology of non-negative presumptive positives.
Clinical Applications
There are 90-day (3-month hair test) extended detection times when compared to drug testing by urine, blood, and oral swab, which allows for observed hair collection when adulteration of the urine sample is suspected.
This test is used to clarify confusing or conflicting results for pre-employment, pain management, and probation urine drug test results; court-ordered hair drug testing; hair drug testing for child custody and divorce; testing for a child or loved one; post-rehab testing; and any which need to be difficult or impossible to adulterate. (*For child custody and child protective services scenarios, consider 15-panel hair drug test environmental exposure, ChildGuard.)
General Limitations
It takes roughly 5 to 10 days for drug use to show in a hair sample.

15 Panel Hair Follicle Drug Test FAQs
What is on a 15 panel drug test?
The 15-panel hair follicle test includes several schedule I, II, III, and IV level drugs. Although you may see slight variations between laboratories, the 15-panel hair test commonly tests for 15 drug classifications and/or metabolites, including amphetamines/methamphetamines (crystal meth or meth), MDA (3, 4-methylenedioxyamphetamine), and MDMA (3, 4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) (ecstasy or molly); cocaine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene, norcocaine; marijuana, thc-cooh; phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust); opiates, morphine, codeine, heroin, 6—MAM (6-monoacetylmorphine); opiates expanded, hydrocodone (Vicodin), hydromorphone (Dilaudid); oxycodone (Oxycontin and Percocet), oxymorphone; benzodiazepines (bennies), alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), temazepam, bromazepam, clonazepam (Klonopin), oxazepam, nordiazepam, lorazepam (Ativan); barbiturates (barbs and barbies), amobarbital, butalbital, pentobarbital, phenobarbital, secobarbital; methadone, eddp 2-ethylidene-1, 5-dimethyl-3, 3-diphenylpyrrolidine; propoxyphene, norpropoxyphene; meperidine, normeperidine; tramadol; fentanyl, norfentanyl; sufentanil, and ketamine (special k) norketamine.
I need a 15-panel hair follicle test but my hair is a little bit longer than a buzzcut; will that be okay?
In order to complete the 15-panel hair follicle test using head hair, your hair needs to be at least an inch-and-a-half long. If your head hair is not this long, we will need to use body hair for this test. With body hair, the requirements are more about the quantity than the length. If using body hair, the donor needs to have at least 90 to 120 strands of body hair (about the size of a cotton ball) from either their legs, arms, face, chest, underarm, or sometimes even pubic area.
Can I get same-day results for the 15-panel hair follicle test?
All of our hair tests are lab-based, so a same-day 15-panel hair follicle drug test result is not available through our company or any other company that does lab-based tests. If you are in a hurry to get your test results, be sure to mention this when you make testing arrangements, and we can choose one of the faster labs to process your test.
What’s the difference between a 14- and 15-panel hair follicle drug test?
The difference between the 14- and 15-panel drug test is that the 15-panel test checks for the presence of ketamine, or horse tranquilizer, which is also known as special k.
How far back will a hair follicle test go, and how does this compare to other types of tests?
All hair follicle tests are capable of detecting substances used up to three months prior. This makes it possible to identify longer-term regular use of drugs. We also offer extended detection time for many of our hair panels. Generally speaking, drugs in urine can only be detected by urine tests for one to three days (except for marijuana) following recreational use, and longer for those who use drugs on a regular basis.
Will the 15-panel hair follicle drug test detect substance on the hair’s surface?
No; the hair follicle test detects the drugs present inside the hair shaft, as well as the presence and amount of metabolites. If a person was near marijuana or other smoke but didn’t inhale it, this would most likely show up as a negative result.
Is the hair follicle drug test an effective way to check for drug use?
Yes; this test is very effective, and it is also a very difficult test to cheat. A hair sample collected at a professional lab is collected only after the person has shown a state ID that matches their appearance and their lab order. Only then is the hair collected, therefore a person cannot submit someone else’s hair sample.
