Detects: Type-1 Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1) infection.
Type-1 herpes is known to usually cause outbreaks in the oral region, but it can also be located in the genital region. It’s arguably one of the most common infections in society. The outbreaks, commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters, can affect anyone and often begin at a young age. Many people contract the virus at a young age from being kissed by a relative. In most cases being a carrier of HSV-1 is nothing to be alarmed about, but in some cases it might cause some worry. Our blood test can determine if you are a carrier of the virus, regardless if your symptoms are currently present or not. Keep in mind that antibodies can take as much as 6-12 weeks to become detectable, so if you’ve had a recent exposure you might consider an IgM antibody screening.
