This test may be useful for individuals that have received a positive drug test and are working with a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) or Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Please keep in mind that while your counselor can help you with many things they cannot help you with your own private drug test. If you are an individual needing your own independent drug test, you must call us directly. An independent drug test does not satisfy the return-to-duty drug test requirement.
Example 45105N Non Dot Look Alike: 5 Panel Urine Drug Screen
Question: I am the hiring manager for a small transportation company in Kansas City. We have an owner operator that has had a previous drug test but we are not sure if this can be used. He seems to think that he should not have to retest. The test code is 45105N. Is this a DOT test?
Answer: This is not a DOT test. Test code 45105N is similar but not the same. It is a 5 panel urine drug screen but not a DOT drug screen. This test has the same cutoff levels but was not ordered as a DOT. This test is called a DOT “look alike” and is designed to mimic a DOT test. This test is ideal for employers that are trying to hold their employees to the same standards as the Department of Transportation, without having to order a DOT. As you know, some of your employees that are perhaps administrative and not holding a CDL may not need a DOT drug test. In this case they may chose this test code.
