The hair alcohol test requires 90 to 120 strands of head hair that is also 1 ½ inches to 2 inches in length. Body hair collection options include underarm hair, chest hair, leg hair, facial hair, forearm hair, back hair, and sometimes pubic hair. It is not uncommon for us to get requests for a hair test for drugs and alcohol. These are actually two hair tests. If you need both, you will need an additional 90 to 120 strands for all hair panels below the 10-panel hair drug test. Larger panels, such as 12 panel hair follicle test, require about double the sample amount (double 90 to 120 strands of head hair that is also 1 ½ inches to 2 inches in length or body hair.) In some cases, if you do not have a lot of hair and you need a hair alcohol test plus one of our largest panels, such as the 17 panel, we may want to discuss your head and body hair situation and request that the lab collect one body hair and one head hair collection.
